Scientists Ready to Speak about Climate Change Realities

Ottawa , Canada , October 12 – We are pleased to announce the formation of the Natural Resources Stewardship Project (NRSP), a federally incorporated, non-profit, non-partisan environmental organization.  NRSP promotes the concept that the environment is usually best protected through responsible environmental stewardship by individual Canadians.  When government must become involved, regulations should be enabled at the most local level possible and only address issues that we can influence - air, land and water pollution being examples.

Led by environmental scientists, NRSP's first campaign is focused on dispelling the notion that Canada will benefit from carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emission control.  CO 2 , the greenhouse gas of concern in most ‘climate control' schemes, is not a pollutant and human emissions of this gas are unlikely to significantly influence climate. Our most effective climate strategy is to assist our most vulnerable citizens adapt to natural climate cycles while encouraging continued research in this complex field.

Environmental consultant, Dr. Timothy Ball , a former professor of climatology at the University of Winnipeg , is NRSP chairman. Tom Harris , an Ottawa-based engineer and science and technology communications specialist, is NRSP Executive Director. The following scientists are members of our Science Advisory Committee :

            - Dr. Ian Clark , Professor of Earth Sciences, University of Ottawa (U of O)

            - Dr. Tad Murty , Adjunct Professor of Earth Sciences and Civil Engineering, U of O

            - Dr. Tim Patterson , Professor of Earth Sciences, Carleton University , Ottawa

            - Dr. Vincent Gray , Expert Reviewer for the IPCC and author of The Greenhouse

Delusion: A Critique of 'Climate Change 2001', Wellington , New Zealand

            - Dr. Sallie Baliunas , astrophysicist and climate researcher, Boston , Massachusetts

            - Dr. Fred Michel , Director, Institute of Environmental Science and Associate

Professor of Earth Sciences, Carleton University
